Title: Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) - performance, capacity, reliability and cost efficiency.
Let's face it, for all the dramatic benefits promised by virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), reality is a different story. High storage costs, driven by performance and reliability inefficiencies, are holding back the full potential and broad adoption of VDI. Enter Xiotech ISE storage blades, the linearly-scalable, super reliable building blocks behind our Block and File Storage Controller solutions. VDI simply runs better on ISE, delivering the industry's best balance of predictable performance, capacity, reliability and cost efficiency
Robert Stevenson is an Enterprise Architect at Xiotech. Previously Mr. Stevenson worked at a start-up Gideon Gartner's Voice of the Customer Storage Research Company called TheInfoPro(TIP) that did interviews with the largest IT storage organizations among the Fortune 1000 every 6 months and provided exclusive guidance to large buy-side institutional investors in New York and strategic advice to publicly traded storage industry executive teams. Prior to TIP, Stevenson was a Technology Strategist in the CTO office at Nielsen Media Research, a Senior Manager at Ernst and Young Management Consulting, a Senior Manager of Supercomputing and SAN consulting at Sun Microsystems and a Researcher at Motorola.

The Future of Desktops: Look to the Cloud
One might think that the definition of a desktop is straightforward and simple, but this is not the case. Major players in the desktop industry including Google, Microsoft, Citrix and Apple all have very different approaches to the desktop and its composition and all of these models include virtualization. While no one vision is likely to eclipse and dominate the others, this session will cover the fundamental components of the personal and business desktop and four of the diverging paths for the desktop.
Chief Solution Architect, Desktone, Inc.
As Chief Security Architect at Desktone, Danny Allan is responsible for shaping the security strategy for hosted virtual desktops, and for educating enterprise IT organizations and solution providers on how to design and deploy desktop clouds. He joins Desktone from IBM where, as Director of Security Research and a member of the Security Architecture Board, he co-authored the IBM Secure Engineering Framework and helped define the software security strategy. Earlier, Allan held several senior customer facing and technical strategy positions with Watchfire and was responsible for the innovation and delivery of three core modules of an enterprise software platform. With more than ten years of technology and security experience, Allan has published several whitepapers and articles, participates in industry working groups, and has spoken at more than 60 industry security conferences. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University.
