"High Performance Virtual Application Delivery, Enabling Branch Office Consolodation and Remote Virtual Desktops"
Recent Gartner Group Findings:
• When virtual desktops are accessed over a WAN application, unresponsiveness due to network bandwidth limitations and latency can lower productivity and wipe out all expected benefits.
• WAN optimization is a good way to reduce the impact of latency and improve performance, while avoiding costly bandwidth upgrades. However, because of the nature of VDI, special optimizations may be required.
• Many enterprises find out about WAN optimization only when faced with network problems, and they use WAN optimization.
Virtualizing applications and deploying VDI is a good way to improve IT efficiency and make savings, especially in times of budget constraints. However, if a network is not adequately prepared, performance can fall off drastically, leading to a decline in productivity. Application performance problems are often caused by latency, due to the interactive nature of the underlying protocols and by network congestion caused by the increase in link traffic.
Virtual WAN optimization controllers improve the performance of key applications accessed across a WAN. This session will discuss the virtual accelerator solutions for VMware View and VDI infrastructures that deliver a productive user experience and eliminate the need for additional data center hardware or bandwidth upgrades.
