Notes

For many organizations, improved endpoint security is a key business driver for deploying desktop virtualization solutions.  Virtualization technology opens the door to a variety of advanced security techniques that simply aren't possible using traditional operating system deployment methods.  At the same time, care must be taken to avoid disturbing the effective operation of existing desktop security measures such as antivirus agents, which were not developed with today's one-to-many virtual desktop deployment models in mind.  Kevin Amorin of Virtual Computer will explore optimal approaches for deploying existing desktop security technologies in virtual desktop environments, highlight some of the new advanced security capabilities that desktop virtualization enables, and outline the steps that virtualization vendors must take to avoid introducing new points of vulnerability in the virtualization layer.  Kevin is a CISSP and teaches several courses on information security at Northeastern University.
